[edit] The Basics
Name: Takawa Daichi (高和第一), which means, roughly speaking, "Grand First Son of High Peace and Harmony."
Position: Tuxedo Kamen, Prince Endymion, and Third Year Student at Chuo Gakuen
Birthdate/Age: June 5th; 17; Gemini Sun Sign, Leo Ascendant, Scorpio Moon Sign: Gemini means he appears clever and sociable; Leo means that he's serious and true to himself inside, and Scorpio means he's intense, passionate, and driven by emotion deep in his heart.
Appearance: Daichi's cute when he's happy and laughing, and handsome when he's serious and somber. He wears his hair in a cut that looks like it was simply allowed to grow out a bit too much: vague layers are evident in his hair, and it's just short enough to avoid being a shag cut. His hair is black, the only highlights being a deep midnight blue color, and is heavily waved in texture. The bangs have a tendency to fall into his eyes unless brushed back constantly. He can smooth his hair back so that it accents the waves in a dignified manner, instead of the slightly nonchalant style he usually affects.. He rarely bothers to do this, though both of his transformed forms do this to his hair automatically. His eyes are a dark brown color, fairly typical with nothing exceptional about them. His features are well-formed, and all about average for a Japanese man. It's mostly the expression on his face that makes him cute, handsome, or unremarkable. His face lights up when he laughs or smiles, and he appears regal, despite the clothing, when serious or somber. It's only when he adopts a flat or apathetic expression that he can be dismissed out of hand. And Daichi usually has a smile on his face in public, or is serious with close friends.
Daichi's height is pretty average for a Japanese male: 5'7' at the age of seventeen, though it remains to be seen if he's had his last growth spurt or not. His family tends around average height, so it's likely that he has. He's fit, but not extremely muscular; sports keep him fit, but he doesn't really work out in order to have a "perfect body." He doesn't care about that; he's healthy, and it's enough for him.
His typical clothing is, unfortunately, the male version of Chuo Gakuen's uniform. But when he can choose his own outfits, he orients towards preppy clothing: khakis and neat jeans, t-shirts that are fitted and button-ups. He owns two pairs of shoes that aren't sports shoes: the ones required with his uniform, and a pair of dress shoes he outgrew a year ago, but hasn't had an opportunity to try on in twice that time.
[edit] Mundane Life
Friends and Family: Takawa Leiko (Mother) - Leiko is a stern character. She spends her time trying to corral her boys into line, since her husband certainly doesn't help. One of her hobbies is gardening, and Daichi hated being forced to participate as a little boy.. He got out of it after ruining some of her best plants. But Leiko loves her children, and only wants the best for them.. And given Akio, it's no wonder she thinks a stern route is the best.
Takawa Goro (Father) - Goro is a rather elusive father figure.. A businessman obsessed with his business, he spends most of his waking hours at the office. The only day his family is guaranteed to see him is on Sunday; therefore, it has become mandatory for all three boys to be at home on Sundays. Akio and Daichi hate Sundays with a passion.
Takawa Akio (Brother) The middle child of the family, Akio has a wild streak. He recently started high school, and Daichi's glad he only has to spend a year in the same school as him, even if he doesn't see his brother very often. Actually, to be quite frank, Akio is a trouble-maker. He's broken his older brother's arm, and probably wouldn't be too bothered to do it again. He torments his younger brother endlessly, and Daichi is positive Akio is only in school for the girls.
Takawa Hiroshi (Brother) The youngest child of the family, Hiroshi is much quieter than his two older brothers. He doesn't object to much, and generally stays quiet around his very loud family. Currently an eighth grade student.
Likes: Psychology - Yes, Daichi is a geek. He is absolutely fascinated with the way people work and how they come through adversity. He also has a talent for consolation, motivation, and speeches.
Mysteries - This ties into psychology, because Daichi could care less about unsolved mysteries, or those of science.. He cares about people. He takes time and effort to get through to people that make an effort to hide themselves. Complex personalities fascinate him, perhaps because he thinks of himself as being straightforward. Either way, he's been known to research personalities of people he's having trouble with. Really, if he wasn't so charming, and was a bit more creepy, he'd probably be considered a stalker.
Motivating/Helping People - This also ties into psychology, really, but he spends enough time on both analysis and practice that they each deserve their own section. He focuses much more on motivation than physically helping people. Most likely because he prefers talk to action in this instance.
Life - This is one of those "duh" responses, but it still deserves a category. Pretty much everyone enjoys the process of breathing and not being dead? And almost as many enjoy life in general. But Daichi is fascinated by how people can go on living and working, and being HAPPY despite everything that happens in the world. Again, it ties into psychology, but Daichi enjoys studying the ironies of life in general.
Activity - Daichi doesn't so much need to be doing something as be around people doing something. He can't stand sitting in silence; his family does enough of that. If people in his group are talking and chatting, he's happy, because something is going on for him to focus on.
Dislikes: Discussions - This refers directly, and almost exclusively to discussions with his parents about his future. He absolutely cannot stand these; moreso than the average teen being nagged about his future. It doesn't help that recently they've become more frequent, because he'll be graduating this year and hasn't a clue what he wants to do. ADDENDUM: This has expanded to include discussions with Kenrou about, again, his future, his goals, and his progress towards becoming the perfect Prince of Humanity. Luckily, it is easier to get out of these conversations, since most of the time, Daichi only needs to say "I'd rather not talk about this right now, Ken-kun."
"True Love" - Daichi despises the concept of true love. The idea that there is only one person in the world you are supposed to be with is patently ridiculous to him. There are simply too many people in the world for one person to be your "one true love." (Yes, it is time to cue the irony.) ADDENDUM: It is going to absolutely break Daichi's heart that Kia seems him as her true love, and more than that, because he's Endymion. It is a damn good thing he's good at hiding that sort of thing.
Planning Ahead - Daichi hates planning things out six years in advance. Having to plan life's adventures just kills the adventure. Plus, he hasn't a clue what he wants to do with his life, and trying to plan things just drives this home.
Artsy Stuff - Daichi simply can't get into music, art, etc. He'd prefer to be doing something, even if it would likely be standing around talking to (or at) someone. Standing around staring at a painting bores him to tears. Music is all right for background noise, but it needs to be noise, not pretty little string symphonies. Oh, the things we learn to tolerate for love's sake.
Hobbies: Psychology - Daichi is such an amateur psychologist. He's always trying to get to the root of a problem, and figure out why such and such person is thinking that way. He's pretty good about not giving out unsolicited advice, though he does enjoy finding ways to help people out.
Basketball - This is Daichi's primary sport. He plays most others, but he's on the team at school for this. It's a good way for him to work off his energy, and he enjoys working out strategies and plays for the team.
Teasing - Daichi does this often enough that it ought to count as a hobby. It's just something that seems to be bred into him as a teenage boy. And, as with most teenage boys, the more he teases someone, the more he likes them.
Making Ice Cream - Completely random, but Daichi likes making ice cream. He especially enjoys inventing flavors and testing them out. Unfortunately, he has a tendency to think trying any sort of flavor once is a good idea. This leads to creations like "Green Tea Asparagus Surprise" ending up in the freezer.
Talking - Daichi is not a gossip, but man. He could not handle being silent for a day. It would not work. He's not the type to sit in friendly, comfortable silence with; have a conversation topic ready, or he'll being prying into the state of your mother's health and the conditions of politics in Yugoslavia. Anything is open territory, as long as there's talking. (Note: He'll sit and listen just as easily as he'll talk, but someone needs to be saying something.)
Visiting Gardens - This is Daichi's calm time. While he's pretty active in every other area of life, going to the gardens is his time where he will just stop and look, and not feel a need to speek. Don't be deceived, though; he despises gardening itself and has no patience for it. He just likes the end results.
Background: Takawa Leiko was born Akamori Leiko, in the spring of 1957 in the city of Nagoya. She was born when her mother was in her thirties, and was the only child of her parents. As such, Leiko was their contribution to the world, and both of her parents were going to make sure that it was a good one. Leiko grew up with both parents watching her every move, correcting and scolding and praising even the smallest actions. She grew up with very little contact outside of her home; at school she was considered distant and arrogant, and most ignored her when they could.
She was allowed to attend University in Tokyo in the mid-late seventies, though her parents kept a close eye on her. She majored in Literature, without an idea of what she was going to do with it for a career. It was in one of her third year classes that she met Takawa Goro.
Goro was the fifth son of an eight-child family. The exact opposite of Leiko's family, Goro had to succeed in order to gain any attention from his parents or siblings. He was working his way through business school, and he hadn't filled some of the general education requirements yet, so he decided to take a Literature course. However, Goro refused to take an "easy class" that was on his ability level; impressive was what he always tried to go for. And so the young man ended up struggling through the class.. And catching the attention of Leiko.
She helped him through his studies, and they began seeing "quite a bit of each other." Leiko, of course, wasn't allowed to date; the very thought of their darling daughter dating someone they hadn't approved would have scared her parents out of their skulls. So instead, she simply spent time with "friends." Usually a female friend of hers with a date, and each pairing would scamper off as soon as they reached their destination.
They spent the rest of their third and fourth years dating, and then Goro went to meet Leiko's parents. Her parents thoroughly approved of the down-to-earth Goro and his businesslike habits, and readily agreed when he asked to marry their daughter.
A suitable courtship period was set, and the two married in 1980. While it wasnt the most romantic of relationships, it was certainly practical: the two had similar views on what a husband and wife should and shouldn't expect of one another, and they were fond of each other. Imagining either Leiko or Goro actually in love is almost an amusing experience. The pair moved to Tokyo as Goro landed a position with an advertising firm, and found a house in the Kourakuen area a few years afterwards.
The first major issue of their marriage arose with the birth of their first son, Daichi. Each favored his/her own parents' method of raising children, and couldn't agree on which method would be best. Finally, they settled on a compromise: Leiko would raise the children her way, and Goro would raise the children his. In order words: NAGNAGNAG followed by almost complete apathy.
Needless to say, Daichi and his brothers (Akio and Hiroshi followed in neat two-year intervals after Daichi) grew up in a rather conflicting atmosphere. Each of them coped a little differently: Daichi was the middleman, seeming to adopt the attitude that conflicted mildly with each of his parents, but not enough to really annoy either of them; Akio became the rambunctious troublemaker that was viewed with affection but despair as well; and Hiroshi became the quiet, model child who tried to please both his parents, and will likely one day end up doing something completely insane to mortify both out of stress.
All in all, though, Daichi had an average childhood. His father ignored him, his mother scolded him, he went to school, made friends, and developed into what he is now. He entered Chuo Gakuen on his parents' insistence, though he didn?t much care one way or another. He spends most of his time at school, of course, and much of the remainder of his time is spent with friends, either on or near school grounds. He tends to avoid going home when he can, so he doesn't have to listen to his mother nag him about his future. He plans on taking college entrance exams, but he hasn't a clue what he wants to do.
[edit] Badassery
Power Sphere: Humanity/Protection
Skills: Sixth Sense - Daichi has always had this odd little nagging feeling whenever his one true love has been in danger. Not that he has any clue what the hell it is, and he'll often be growly about the little voice bugging him to run off and rescue the damsel in distress. When transformed, this is stronger. And, of course, it only works when Sailor Moon/Princess Serenity/Kia is in danger. He'd have to be around to realize her advisors were in danger.
Being Cool - Daichi is COOL LIKE CHOCOLATE. For those of you that are going WTF?, fear not, I shall explain. Daichi is cool the way that Star Wars is cool, and the way that being a drama freak is cool. He is one of those people that when you break it down and try to figure out why on Earth they are considered cool and popular, you just CAN'T. It makes no sense. But he is still cool. Just because he is. The same goes for Tuxedo Kamen. Endymion is too regal to be cool.
Throwing Roses - Yeah. Hell, this is hard work. You try tossing around a rose so that it stabs enemies and cracks things. And all of this without ripping his gloves or cutting his skin? This is an awesomely special skill.
Sword Play - Thank God for transformations. Daichi would be at loss with what to do with a sword. ("The pointy end goes here, right?") But as Endymion, he can use that sword. Albeit, it's usually for blocking significant attacks, or when someone else attacks. But he can use the sword, goshdarnit.
Motivational Speaking 407 - Daichi, Tuxedo Kamen, and Endymion could all teach their own college level course on motivational speaking. No matter how corny the words seem when you play them back to yourself, his speeches are damn inspiring when uttered at the right moment. Which brings us to...
Timing - Tuxedo Kamen always knows just when to show up and spout his incredibly cheesy words of wisdom, and when a convenient rose is needed.
Attacks: War of the Roses - This is Tuxedo Kamen's basic attack. It varies depending on how he uses it: most of the time, it paralyzes an enemy from attacking or using a particular attack for a short time, in order to enable an ally the time to attack the enemy. The exact effect varies depending on the enemy; we haven't quite figured out how this one works yet. Perhaps the powers that be felt sorry for giving him a rose to work with, and decided to make it a very versatile rose.
It can be dodged, but since Tuxedo Kamen prefers surprise attacks, it can be rather hard to do. But the effects are very rarely permanent: beat around the bush long enough, and the enemy will break out of the spell, or find some way to overcome it.
Golden Crystal Power - This is Endymion's last-ditch power.. It's not even an attack. The Golden Crystal is empowered with protection, not offense. Endymion is the prince, and therefore protector of humanity. While it is everyone else's job to fight for humanity, or to save it, Endymion's is to protect it with his power.
Basically, he draws on his power to create a protective shield around his allies. Specifically, those who are around him, or if they are grouped together nearby. It creates a golden-colored shield around her that will protect them from any sort of attack, whether it be from weaponry, mental intrusion, or those of energy. The catch? The shield dies when he does. And given he's draining his source of power, that will probably be a grand total of two minutes, if he was rested beforehand, which is unlikely.
Weapons: Rose Mach 1 - Okay, we have no clue where these roses come from. Likely from the same place the senshi's henshin wands come from: some interdimensional pocket that exists solely to provide Tuxedo Kamen with roses. But he gets them. And they are special roses, too. The stems are hard enough to embed themselves into enemies or even solid cement, and the petals manage to stay firmly attached. (Unless it is for Dramatic Purposes.)
Ebony Cane - More of a defensive thing. Tuxedo Kamen carries around a black cane, which he mostly uses to spin for flair and look cool, and to block the occasional attack. (For the most part, these attacks must be from something physical; he can't block energy attacks with it.) If he was feeling particularly ornery, he could smack an enemy in the head with it... But that lacks flair.
Royal Sword - See that sword hanging by Endymion's side? It's not just for show. He can attack and defend with it. He tends to use it for defense, though, or to channel some attack into himself so it will not hit his beloved princess.
Golden Crystal - The thing that gives Endymion his power is also a weapon. Albeit a last-ditch weapon. See above for its use.
Fuku: Tuxedo Kamen - The base for his outfit is, get this... A tuxedo. I know, you're dying of shock. Tuxedo Kamen wears your basic black tuxedo. Unlike his previous incarnation, this version likes to keep the jacket buttoned, though it is still accompanied by the same white vest, shirt, and bow-tie. Unlike most tuxedos, Tuxedo Kamen has a cape attached to his.. A floor-length cape that's black on the outside and lined with red satin that swishes around nice and dramatically when he moves. Black dress shoes and a black top-hat complement the outfit. However, Tuxedo Kamen has a tendency to lose his hat in the midst of battle.. It's a good thing his outfit is magically regenerating when he transforms, or he would have been without headgear long ago. As it is, it's no longer an uncommon sight to see Tuxedo Kamen running about with a bare head. Other accessories include a pendant of sorts that hangs from a red ribbon around his neck, white gloves, and the other part of his namesake, a white mask. The gold pendant is formed in a pointed starburst, with longer spikes edging out in the four cardinal directions. His gloves are white, and go on his hands. ... They're just gloves. Really. His mask is plain and white, seemingly stylized after the old costume ball masks, and it shadows his eyes more than it hides his face. He also carries around this nifty black cane that he can smack people with. ... Well, that's what he ought to use it for. He tends to use this to block blows, and be majestic, though he might whap someone with it if it's necessary, and if he can pull it off with flair.
Prince Endymion - Endymion's outfit is a bit more complicated. Its base is a navy blue outfit: pants and a uniform jacket with an imperial collar. It fastens with hidden clasps, and the edges of the jacket are edged with white, with a decorate swirl in the center of each breast and on either side of the clasp at his collar. The jacket sleeves also have an extra piping of white, to make it appear as though there are cuffs turned down over the edge of the sleeves. Next comes the armor. Dark metal armor covers his lower legs up to his knees, taking the place of standard boots. More armor, of a lighter-colored metal protects his stomach and hips, though it must flex somehow, so he won't stab himself on the center piece on his abdomen that points up when he bends over. And last are a pair of shoulder guards that appear to have little use other than making his shoulders look very, very wide. A cape is fastened just underneath the shoulder-plates with bright brass buttons. The cape is also a dark navy color, but lined with red so as to be very, very noticeable. Also included with this outfit is a leather holster, which rests low on one hip, carrying his sword without a sheath.
