The Great Crystals are the four Sailor Crystals that contain the fundamental power of the universe. Their hosts maintain the universal balance and safety, and the hosts of the Sailor Crystals maintain them.

Contents

Onegai

The "Onegai" the the ultimate recourse for the host of a Great Crystal. By invoking its power, the host gives the Crystal explicit permission to expend itself for the good of the universe. The results of each Crystal's Onegai are unique, and the degree of power can fluctuate from host to host. The Crystal, as a concrete reflection of its wielder's soul, will expend all of its power this once and only once and then shatter, taking the host's life with it and making this power the ultimate sacrifice.

Ginzuishou

Serenity's Mystical Silver Crystal is in practice the most powerful because of the nature of Serenity herself. The single word encompassing its power is Hope, and so invoking the Crystal focuses on restoration. What it mainly does is heal... everything. Mostly it exorcises baddies that have corrupted people, which we see multiple times, especially throughout the anime. Case in point: Endymion at the end of the first season, Fiore in the R movie, and Chaos Galaxia, among others. The Ginzuishou (coupled with Sailor Moon's love) has also been used to bring dead peoples back to life, case in point: the senshi at the end of the first season. Unfortunately, using this attack will kill her -- the reason it's so powerful is because she ties her own life force to the crystal. Still, the knowledge of that slight disadvantage has never stopped her from using it in dire emergencies before, and Kia herself will have no problem sacrificing herself for others, I'm sure. Its physical form is a glittering silver lotus flower.

Kinzuishou

The Magnificent Golden Crystal, which Endymion protects, is the Earth's pride. Its strength lies in protecting the greater good, and its invoked power reflects shielding, protection, and armor. Since it is the strength of the people, its physical manifestation is golden chrysanthemum flower.

Akaizuishou

Kakyuu's Beneficent Ruby Crystal provides a kind of omniscience. Wisdom is its heart, and guidance is what its power invokes. It can see into the heart of things to impart truth and understanding.

Kakyuu's ruby crystal is the essence of knowledge and wisdom. Its purpose is to be a guide for the rest of the galaxy. When Kakyuu summons her desperation power, which all Royals possess, the ruby crystal bestows upon Kakyuu all the knowledge and insight of the universe. She becomes nigh-on a god with her insight into everything in existence. But the Princess Kakyuu is not a god, and cannot survive the burden of complete omnipotence. She holds on just long enough to provide the guidance needed so that others can carry on, before she succumbs to the destructive effect of the knowledge no one person can ever hold all at once. She fades away, the ruby crystal darkening.

Its form is a magnolia blossom.

Seizuishou

The Sapphire Crystal is, individually, the most physically powerful of the four great crystals. However, since Galactica is a naturally-focused combat soldier, its abilities are far more limited than the Silver or Ruby crystals. Its power is entirely physical in nature; it can be directed either to single targets or as a cone or radiating shockwave. It is always deadly, both to its target and its host. It manifests physically in the form of a lily blossom, and is carried in soldier form in two pieces: half rests in Galaxia's brooch, and the other is the pommel stone of her sword.
