For a quiet teenager who likes to Hang Out, Ueno Park is an ideal locale. Ueno Park also has a small homeless population. Most of the people living there are of the honest, hard-working but down-on-their-luck sort. Then there's Crazy Ranting Guy. He stands at the same lamppost in the park every day, from dawn until dusk, railing on whatever it is that's going through his mind. Binshou absolutely adores him. He's harmless, he rarely tries to initiate conversation with anybody (anybody REAL, at least), and he seems to appreciate Binshou's audience. On top of that, he's entertaining... and maybe he DOES bring up an interesting point when he mentions that the Russians have replaced Emperor Akihito with a self-destructing android. Or maybe not. At any rate, they both have issues, but they both seem to be okay with this.
Kuruoshii Yakko-san (which is in fact a vague translation of "Crazy Ranting Guy") has gray hair and eternal 5 o'clock shadow. He always wears an unadorned fishing hat, perhaps a clue to his mysterious past, perhaps something he simply snatched off of someone else's head. Little is known about Crazy Ranting Guy's true character (there's probably not that much to know), but he's essentially harmless, and if there's a conspiracy theory out there, you can bet he's expanded on it in insane new ways.
