The Basics

Name: Tetsuya Bijiko, or Biji-chan to a select few people! Her name, written in one form of Kanji, means "Lovely girl who stays up all night.". Another way of writing the very same name results in "A beautiful girl fond of luxury". Either way, it's quite appropriate.

Position: Sailor Mau of the Galactics, Senshi of Luck. At the same time she is a prominent Blackjack dealer at the Tokyo Dome Casino, an ambitious young lady and something of a socialite at times.

Appearance: Build: At around 5'5" tall, Bijiko is above average as far as Japanese female height goes (most of which is attributable to her legs). She doesn't go out of her way to lift weights or the like, but she does jog a mile or two a day to maintain her healthy features. As a result one could easily call her toned, but certainly not muscular. Her main physical focus is yoga stretching, which defines her graceful features all the more as a result. Otherwise, her body is certainly that of a mature young woman, but very proportional, even average.

Hair: Bijiko's hair is quite blonde, the very shade of wheat, in fact. When she's not at work, her hair generally falls just past her shoulders, about halfway to the small of her back. She often wears it tied back in a ponytail when at home or out shopping, and leaves it loose when out socializing in one fashion or another. At work, though, she usually has her hair styled in a more business-appropriate manner, such as a tight hair fountain or a bun held by laminated chopsticks.

Eyes: Her eyes are a bright, emerald shade of green, and are usually twinkling in anticipation. Often this is a sign of impending mischief.

Facial details: A scattering of light freckles and a pair of obvious dimples, along with slightly high cheekbones, will generally prevent Bijiko from being referred to as "beautiful", though most would not hesitate to call her extremely attractive nonetheless. Her smile in particular is very nice. She's also quite well aware of the impact her smile sometimes has.

Voice: Her voice is certainly a bit deeper than you might expect from her external features, being at the far end of the alto range. While she enjoys humming from time to time, she can't carry a note to save her life, and this fact has often annoyed her. It is a rich voice nonetheless…. as long as she doesn't try to sing.

Clothing: Bijiko's casual outfits tend towards loose and comfortable - skirts and blouses, particularly in bright colors, are common sights. At work, she wears a black suit, complete with a black tie, white dress shirt, and black slacks and shoes, which is the norm for a high profile casino. For those evenings where she goes out with a specific party or social event in mind, she has a fair selection of evening dresses, some of which are certainly more "scandalous" than others, but none are unusually so. Of these, most are a shade of green to match her eyes.

Movements: Biji-chan is gifted with an unusual grace. She would rarely be described as elegant, except perhaps at the occasional high profile party her parents sometimes entertain where she's consciously working towards that goal. Nevertheless, though, she is about as far from clumsy as one can get. You know those people who sometimes like to get up on the curb between the street and sidewalk and balance themselves while walking? She'll jog down those strips without giving it another thought.

Summary: Bijiko is not likely to win a beauty contest in the foreseeable future, but she's still an unusually attractive young woman with very nice features and a voracious appetite for social contact. Combined with her flirtatious nature, she generally has little difficulty attracking all sorts of attention. For a better example, consider Julia Stiles, who is the template for a great deal of this characters physical attributes.

Age/Birthday/Astrological Whatnot: August 3rd, 21 years of age. As a Leo, her zodiac sign becomes the lion - setting aside the obvious parallel here of Sailor Mau (of the planet Mau in her previous incarnation, the home of intelligent cats such as Luna and Artemis), this sign really and truly fits her personality quite splendidly. With Leo as her Sun sign, Gemini as her Moon sign and with Virgo ascendant, a fascinating personality emerges.

Mundane Life

Friends and Family: Tadanori - (kanji meaning is both "diligent" as well as "money") is Bijiko's father. Having worked his way up through the ranks of a prominent bank, he's well versed in not only financial responsibility but also in politics. Often his job is extremely stressful, which can lead him to be snappish at times, but he's never had even a violent inclination in his life. Unsurprisingly, a common pastime of his would be golf.

Reiriko - (kanji meaning is "Clever girl") is Bijiko's mother. A hard working woman, she began as a private economics analyst who turned to the life of a professor for quite a few years around the time of her daughters birth. Eventually, her deep interest in trade led her to a quasi-governmental position which she now holds. She has regrets sometimes that the amount of time she had to devote to being a professor, not to mention her new position now, has not allowed her to spend as much time with her daughter as she might have liked in hindsight, but nonetheless she tries to be a part of Bijiko's life and loves her very much.

Usual Daily Routine:

Background: Bijiko was born on August 3rd to Tadanori and Reiriko Tetsuya. Tadanori, who was then a manager for the Bank of Tokyo, and Reiriko, then a professor of economics at Todai University, had been married for nearly 6 years and were in their upper 20's. The decision to have a child was a very carefully measured one, as her parents wanted to provide the best possible environment for her upbringing. With their stable careers, they finally decided the time was right, and about one year later their new daughter was born into the world.

Her childhood was quite normal for an only child who was introduced at a young age to the upper middle class world of Tokyo. At the same time, rarely did a day pass by without skinned knees and ankles. It was only as she grew up, year by year, that she began to feel the grace and balance that she has in this day. Her parents, wanting to provide her the best possible education, sent her to a private school which focused on a highly disciplined learning track. There, she found her two fondest topics were an unusual combination - mathematics and gymnastics. In an attempt to bring more culture into her life, her parents began to take her to piano lessons at about five years of age. This only lasted for a handful of attempts, though, once they discovered that she was not capable or interested in doing anything other than mashing the piano keys as fast and hard as possible. Music was definitely not going to be a talent in this young girl's future!

Bijiko was found to be a natural at gymnastics, but over time it was really math that drew her attention. This was easily attributed to her parents, both of whom worked with figures on a daily basis and were considered gifted in their own rights. As time went on, her parents began working more and more hours, forced to devote even more time and effort to their positions, but this did not bother her. It was simply more time that she spent playing, daydreaming, occasionally reading… all the normal activities of a young lady, under the watchful eyes of her nanny, of course.

Her family's good fortunes and hard work took a turn for the better in 1996, when both of her parents found themselves accepting new positions. Her father was promoted to a vice president of the newly formed Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi Ltd, when his old bank merged with the Mitsubishi Tokyo Financial Group. At this point in time Bijiko would have been 16 years old. Earlier that same year, her mother, an increasingly prominent figure in economics, was hired as a director for the JTFC (Japan Foreign Trade Council). As a result of this, they were both drawn further into the social scene of upper class Tokyo, and it was here that Bijiko began learning all the more about human interaction. Over the course of time, and particularly as she became more bold (opposed to hiding in an empty room while a formal party goes on in the next room), she learned how to communicate and work with people. Over the next few years, as she grew into a young woman, she grew to enjoy the effect she had upon the men at these parties and at other social gatherings. Much of her time, though, was taken up by school when she left the private school at 16 to attend Tokyo University, where she graduated at 19 with a degree in accounting.

It was her 16th birthday, though, when she began having clues that she was, perhaps, luckier than most. On that day, prior to going out and meeting Reiriko for dinner, her father took her to the race tracks. This was the first time Bijiko had ever seen horses up front, and her eyes immediately lit up with curiosity and wonder. After walking through the complex, Tadanori led her to the betting stalls, where win tickets could be purchased in bets on the race itself. Just as he began to buy a simple 5000 yen ticket on a popular horse, Biji-chan frowned and tugged on his sleeve, asking instead that he place his bet on a different horse - one that had won in the past, but was past its prime and definitely an underdog. With a wry smile, he shrugged and went ahead and placed the bet as she asked. Naturally, the horse in question won that race, seemingly without real effort. Over the course of the next 2 horse races in a row, Bijiko successfully pointed out the horse that she *felt* should, or perhaps would, win. As a birthday present, Tadanori gave her the winnings with which to buy her own birthday present, leading her out of the complex all the while, hoping that she wouldn't become TOO attached to the gambling! To his surprise, he was wrong on both counts - first, she insisted that she open a new savings account with the funds rather than spending them outright! And second, only a month passed before she asked to go back out to the race track. To this day, she spends a little time there every few weeks or months.

After college, Bijiko moved back home for a time while she looked into her career options. To her parents surprise, she simply was not interested in working as an accountant at that point in time - she could always go back to that down the road was her theory on the matter! No, she wanted to try something more interesting, where she could meet new people and maybe learn even more about the world of commercial financing. Sure enough, she found this just two months later! After attending a concert at the Tokyo Dome, she met with a few friends at the casino located within the same building, and found herself drawn to the life there. All the glitter and fast paced games! The people going in and out, the money exchanging hands, it had an irresistible appeal to her nature. The next day, she went back to the casino to look into work possibilities, and was hired shortly thereafter. She's now been working for just over a year, and has become one of the most popular card dealers in the establishment, working the prime hours of 6 pm to 3 am most days. Over time, she would like to move on up to management, but for the time being she's quite happy with what she is doing.

Apartment space in Tokyo is, of course, always at a premium, so for the first several months of this she continued to live at home with her parents. She found, though, that she really did want to set out on her own, particularly given the hours that she worked - it was worrisome to her to accidentally wake her parents up as she got home at 3:30 am some nights! As a result, she eventually found herself moving into the Kouraku-ryu apartment complex, specifically apartment 1225. Moving in took quite a bit of effort, particularly for her fish tank, but in the end it was all accomplished! Thrilled to have her own place for the first time (she never really considered college a "home"), she's still constantly working to organize it, and doing everything in her power to keep it clean. Unfortunately, given the hours she works and the fact that, like most people, she prefers to sleep right before work, most of her cleaning (such as vacuuming) is done around the 4 to 5 am area of the morning. She hasn't quite figured out yet that this might offend someone! And given further that her apartment is, oddly enough, the one immediately above 1125, which belongs to a certain Rin Kansou… well, I'm sure you see the problem.

A Little More Specific

Quirks: Bijiko sometimes calls Rin a dyke to her face. One day, she figures, Rin will haul off and attempt to punch her, and then all the ill luck in the world will hit Rin square in the ass.

Bijiko is very much an almost stereotypical Leo. At almost any given point in time, if possible, she loves to be the center of attention. In a social gathering, regardless of whether we are talking about a high class to-do or a handful of friends at a bar, she'll somehow manage to speak with and entertain each and every single person there. Well, the males in particular of course, but still. She has an almost magnetic presence, and while her raw charisma doesn't come even CLOSE to, say, Chikara, she does know exactly how to use her charm. She'll go to extreme lengths to make a good impression on someone she's meeting for the first time, and even continue to work on that as time goes on. Leos often enjoy taking a risk, but only if the odds are in their favor. They hate to lose and as such look bad, and Biji-chan is no exception to this stereotype. Glamour and glitz have their place in the world, after all, and SOMEONE has to embrace it!

In her hobbies and throughout the above, it has been mentioned that she is extremely flirtatious. This is a definite trademark of her personality. Generally, Bijiko loves the attention that teasing in this manner brings to her, though she's simply not interested in going any "further" than teasing. One aspect of this trait is her mostly subconscious need to touch another person (which is just about as un-Japanese as you can get, but no one ever accused her of being normal), but ONLY on her own terms. For instance, she might lightly rest her fingers on someone's arm while speaking, or on their hand. She might brush a fallen lock of hair back from someone's face, adjust their collar, or her hip might brush theirs as she walks by. Think of all the ways in which a cat will rub against your leg in a "HEY LOOK AT ME" fashion - same deal. By the same token, her grace and smooth movements allows her an escape if things backfire a bit. If a guy were to try to put an arm around her shoulders or waist, for example, she manages to move just out of position, preventing him from doing so while still going on with that disarming smile of hers.

Despite her outgoing, social demeanor, though, it's extremely rare that she lets anyone get very close to her. A part of it can be viewed as a simple phobia of rejection, though it's really more than that. As dependent as she is on the admiration and attention of other people, few are ever allowed to actually get to know her. She's quite particular about exactly who she lets close to her, and over the years from childhood on up, only a very select few has she stayed in contact with throughout the passage of time. The short answer to her puzzle, in the end, is that the attention she gleans from such social contact makes her feel more like a worthwhile person. By the same token, though, she really would not know WHAT to do with more attention than she can handle, which is why she lives alone in her apartment with her fish.

The fact that she grew up in an upper class home with a definite emphasis on money left its own impression as well, of course, and it is here that her Virgo ascendance truly stands out. As with most Leo's, Bijiko feels a strong affinity for money. However, she doesn't quite have the stereotypical lions need to SPEND it right away, at least not without any regard for it. Having learned financial responsibility from her parents, she maintains her own accounts in a startlingly mature manner. In truth, she finds it more fun to simply HAVE money than to spend it! This is quite possibly one of her aspects that makes her such a great casino employee - she has a tremendous amount of respect for the yen that pass through the doors and across the tables. This is also where a large part of her business ambitions come into play.

Take into account her personality traits and extroverted nature, along with her attractive physicality and the fact that she really enjoys her work, and you have a very good Blackjack dealer. Add into this the fact that the house almost ALWAYS wins at her table (unless her subconscious would like to see the cute guy in the 3rd seat win, but more on that under powers/abilities), along with her accounting education, and you have a REALLY good Blackjack dealer. She's hopeful one day she might even be in a position to run a beautiful casino of her own, but for now, she's quite pleased with where she is at. Not to mention being the favorite dealer of casino management, given how the odds seem to always be in her favor, somehow or another.

Darkest Secret:

Reactions to Sudden Hugs:

Virtues and Vices:

Badassery

Power Sphere: Luck

Asswhoopery: Grace & Balance - Bijiko is unusually graceful. Even an untrained eye can readily tell that her movements are incredibly smooth, though she's certainly capable of exploding into motion with little to no warning. Granted, she's not a ferret on speed like Coronis, but she's still quite agile. Her sense of balance is equally fine-tuned, allowing her to walk or run on surfaces that would cause most people to fall over.

Landings - It's almost (though I won't say completely) impossible to knock Bijiko down to the ground. She'll nearly always land on her feet. For example, she might be knocked backwards by an explosion, but she'll more than likely either outright land on her feet, or perform a somersault and still land on her feet.

Bending Luck - This is certainly one of her most important attributes, above almost anything else, and will require some specific details. Per her sphere, luck bends itself around her, often working in coercion with her subconscious will. If you are familiar with the Wheel of Time books, then Mat Cauthon is a great example of this. There are a few important guidelines concerning this. A) Bijiko is NOT able to bend luck in any way, shape, or form in a conscious manner. She cannot control it. She's generally not even aware of it, other than to occasionally consider that she's quite lucky at times. B) This is not always GOOD luck. Whereas a normal person's "luck" might be viewed as a plateau with occasional up slopes and down slopes, her luck would look more like a mountain range - the majority of the time it hovers between good and unimaginably good, on the up slope or the top of those "mountains", but there will be and are times when her luck plummets right on down into valleys. At times like this, watch out - it wouldn't be surprising to see a roof tile come loose from a house 5 miles away, blown on the wind, and hit her in the back of the head just right. C) This luck CAN influence other people immediately around her if there is a subconscious reason for it, again for good or ill (though most of the time it truly is for good). For example, suppose there is a cute guy who is making pleasant conversation at her blackjack table. More than likely he's going to walk away with twice as much money as he stopped with, though she would not in any way consciously assist him in that - she'd just subconsciously like to see him win, in which case his "luck" might bend upwards a good bit. Another example might be if she were out shopping with Chikara and posse, and would like to see Chikara in a good mood (for a change XD). They might turn a corner and suddenly see a store advertising Precious Moments Figurines at a 75% off one-day sale! As a final example of the flipside of this luck, let's consider Coronis, who is probably not going to become Bijiko's best friend in the whole wide world. Would it be all that surprising if they all got ice - cream cones and Coronis's broke and fell in her lap?

Greatest Weakness: Her power sphere is not GOOD luck. It is just luck. That means that sometimes it is BAD luck. Sometimes, even, it is VERY, VERY BAD.

Attacks:
"Mau Card Throw!"

Description: Holding out her left hand, Sailor Mau begins to yell out the attack name. A deck of slightly oversized playing cards appears in this hand. The deck itself is of course slightly customized for our purposes, where Serenity is the Ace of Hearts, Kakyuu is the Ace of Diamonds, Galaxia is the Ace of Spades, and Endymion is the Ace of Clubs, with the expected fallout beneath this. As Mau yells the attack, she bridges the deck, forcing one card at random per basic sleight of hand to pop out of the deck. Catching this card with her right hand, she spins in place on one foot, launching the card at the enemy just as she comes around completely.

Results: The result of this will depend greatly on the card thrown. Generally, the card will be appropriate to the situation, as Mau's luck field will play as one of her strengths. Also of important note is that these cards can and will sometimes be thrown at ALLIES for reasons that will become obvious in a moment. Generally speaking, here are the effects that can be expected from a thrown card:

Spades - Spades are the primary attack card of the deck. This will result in an energy based attack at the enemy. As the card is approaches the midway point between Mau and the target, it will rotate into a sphere of glowing energy. The higher the card value, the more powerful the attack. If the Ace is thrown, rather than just a generic sphere of glowing energy it forms what appears to be the head of a lion (still made of energy), looking as though it were going to "engulf" the enemy.

Hearts - Unless her luck field is reversed, this is generally only going to be thrown at allies. This card will pop as it nears the target, resulting in a few healing bubbles to "float" around the individual. This does not work for groups, only for individuals, and it's healing is very limited at best. The lower value cards really just refresh the target a bit, only the highest level result in any actual healing, and even then not *really* substantial. This is most commonly thrown at Galaxia-sama. And rarely thrown at Coronis. ;)

Clubs - Same as above, this would "typically" be thrown at an ally. This card would result in a shield around the target for an extremely limited amount of time. At NO point is this shield ever powerful enough to repel an full attack from an Elemental, not even the Ace card can manage that. At best it might prevent an attack from a youma, or limit the amount of damage done. The higher the card value in this case the longer the shield lasts, in seconds. IE 2 of clubs might be a 2 second light shield, the Jack of clubs would be an 11 second light shield, etc. Either way the shield goes away either when the time's up or when it's hit by an attack. Unfortunately, when the luck field is not being so kind, this can also end up being thrown at an enemy.

Diamonds - This is another attack card, but this deals physical damage, whereas the Spades are energy damage. In this case though, damage is almost negligible - it's a distraction more than anything else. Quite literally, this card dissolves into catnip as it hits the target, and a number of cats equal to the value of the card will charge the target, possibly slashing as they go, to try to get the catnip away. In the case of the Ace of Diamonds, you'd expect over a dozen cats to be running full-tilt and trying to jump on the target. They're not necessarily doing any damage, though they'll dig in if the target tries to throw them off, they just want the catnip!

"Pretty Paw Slingshot!"

Description: As she yells out the attack, Sailor Mau stretches her arms out, one to each side. In her left hand, a suddenly glowing sphere resolves itself into what appears to be an 8" long slingshot, which appears to be a large plastic cat paw! Held at the "wrist", it has a thick rubber band between the two most outward "toes", which are in turn longer than the middle digits. Holding the slingshot in front of her, she pulls a roulette ball out of her pocket to place inside the sling for launching at the target. This attack only gets off one shot before the paw dissipates away, of course.

Results: Roulette balls are quite sturdy! Generally this won't kill anything, but boy it's going to hurt. The most common use for Mau in this attack is to try to stall an enemy, such as aiming for the knees or groin or the like. If the battle is in a situation with considerable walls nearby, she will often try to ricochet the ball off the walls to get the best possible effect. Her luck will generally work towards this, but as you might imagine, if the luck field is not being so kind, she's just as likely to watch the ball come right on back towards her and hit her between the eyes. Or, worse, hit Chikara between the eyes. (Rin is acceptable.)

"Kitty Caltrops!"

Description: Folding her hands inward to her chest, crossed at the wrist, Sailor Mau looks down for a moment as she spins on one heel. Coming back around, she calls out the attack name, throwing both hands forward away from her body. Out fly roughly two dozen regular dice to hit the ground, hopefully around the enemy.

Results: Just as the name suggests, this is intended to slow down the enemy, whether making them step carefully or flat out falling down to the ground. The dice are, of course, somewhat slippery. The thing to bear in mind in this case is the dice value. Those dice that roll 1's will vanish in a small poof of smoke, completely useless. Those dice that roll 6's will suddenly have ½" spikes erupt from each side of the dice, making them a little more dangerous than just plain dice, though still not a real threat.

Fuku: Sailor Mau's fuku begins in the fairly standard manner, with a sleeveless white bodysuit hugging her upper body, with the exception that the upper back is mostly left open with a few straps. Her skirt, fairly short, is black and matches the striped collar at the base of her neck. Black fishnet stockings arise out of stiletto black boots, very similar to those seen on Tin Nyanko, with a black band encircling her leg every 4 inches or so throughout the stockings. A large red bow with a gold bell adorns both the front of the outfit between her breasts as well as the back, just above her hips, while a matching red choker with a few smaller gold bells around it wraps about her neck. White opera gloves adorn each arm up to the elbow, with a slim black band visible just at the end of them. The most unusual part of her ensemble would be the long, flicking, dark cat tail that appears behind her, and the equally dark cat ears that perk up atop her otherwise blonde head. A small gold tiara made of thin strands rests on her forehead between these cat ears.

Henshin: "Mau Galactic Power, Make UP!" Assuming what amounts to a cheerleader's stance, with arms thrown horizontally outward and legs spread about two feet apart, Bijiko calls out her henshin phrase, a slight smile playing on her lips as she does so. The ground beneath her erupts into white light, while a shimmering curtain of scintillating lights of all colors falls behind her as a backdrop. Her clothes vanish, leaving her body a dark silhouette against the incredibly bright background. The camera then begins to slowly spin about her body just as a dozen balls of what appears to be yarn pop into the air all around her. This yarn immediately starts to wrap itself about her, effectively "knitting" her fuku on the spot at an incredible speed. As the camera completes its second rotation around her, the fuku itself is completed. Her ears and tail both emerge from her body at this point, just as a squeaking kitten runs into the full view of the camera from behind, taking a flying leap over her head, where it deposits her tiara just right. Falling into her arms, she sets the kitten down before flashing a thumbs-up at the camera.

Connections

Chikara
At first, her attitude towards Chikara will probably be fairly neutral, with a grudging respect. Bijiko is an outgoing, social creature, prone towards humor, pranks and flirtation (as long as none of the above have to do with money, that's nothing to laugh at!) - Chikara is the polar opposite of these things! However, there's no denying Chikara's natural charisma or strength, and both of these will be respected. It will take some time for Bijiko to come to terms with the kind of woman she's going to be loyal to for the rest of her life.

Rin
Aaaaaaaaaaah yes. Over the course of time, they'll probably come to have a grudging respect for one another, particularly after a few battles against the Elementals. All the same though chances are slim they'll ever become best friends. Their personalities will clash like WHOA in pretty much every possible regard, not the least of which will be Bijiko's flirtatious nature and Rin's need for competitiveness (Biji-chan might show a little competition in flirting, but she could care less about anything else. You won't find her trying to outrace Rin in a wasabi eating contest, for example.)

Arumi
This one is hard to say. Bijiko's first impression of Arumi is that she is a complete and utter airhead with delusions of singing grandeur. : But as they get to know each other, they could probably get along alright, though there are a few elements that clash here, such as Arumi's general dislike for cats and Bijiko's distaste for swimming.

Jun

Sakura
I'd venture to say that these two could become friends. Sakura's volatile mood swings might make Bijiko blink a few times, but Sakura is SO INTERESTING. She looks forward to adventure, to new experiences, to new shinies! Not to mention that Sakura is just as keen on the social scene as Biji-chan is. I wouldn't be surprised if these two were seen going to parties or special occasions together, since they would both end up attracting and soaking up all of the attention they could ever want.
