[edit] The Basics
Name: Celeste deVoie (French for 'heavenly/celestial way/path')
Position: By day, second-year high school student. By night, Sailor Star Seeker, Senshi of Travel. As a member of the Kinmoku senshi, Seeker's primary role is that of scout. Secondarily, she acts as a diplomat and messenger.
Appearance: Height: 5'5", more or less middling height for her native corner of the world.
Weight: 109 lbs. She is generally slender, though more muscular in the legs.
Eyes: Verdant green - large, expressive, and very much not Japanese. Her attention span is a fickle thing, depending on goings-on; it's easy for her to be distracted by the many things that can go on around someone, but even as she looks from point to point, she never seems to lose track of where she's going. When her attention does fix on something, though, the intensity in her forest-green eyes can be startling to those used to seeing her more scatterbrained side.
Hair: Dark brown, wavy but not curly, which reaches to the nape of her neck, around her face at the sides, and just above her eyebrows at the forehead.
Carriage: She moves with confidence, with a strong stride that can take her where she's going as fast as she feels.
Voice: Middle-alto, though she couldn't carry a tune in a bucket. Most noteworthy in her current environment is the fact that she speaks Japanese like a Tokyo native, rather than her gaijin appearance would suggest.
Usual clothing: Eclectic, taking from cultures all over the world, or as the sitution dictates (such as her Chuo uniform). Often, she wears a comfortable blouse, favoring reds, yellows, and greens, along with blue jeans - overall meant for comfort over style. She eschews makeup except for slight touches on formal occasions. Her jewelry most often includes only a simple gold stud ring in each ear and a digital sport wristwatch on her arm.
Age/Birthday/Astrological Whatnot: December 13, 1984 (currently age 17). Sagittarius, Moon in Leo, Sagittarius Rising.
[edit] Mundane Life
Friends and Family: None of Celeste's family are likely to make personal appearances any time soon. Of course, more detail will be provided if this fact changes.
Parents: Philippe deVoie, father - investor
Charlotte deVoie, mother - legal analyst
Siblings: Marie deVoie, older sister - law school student in England
Charles deVoie, older brother - college student in America
Camille deVoie, younger sister - primary school student in Versailles
Usual Daily Routine:
Background: When Chaos Galaxia attacked the Kinmoku planet, Sailor Star Seeker had been separated from the other Starlights - she was never the best of warriors, and Galaxia's senshi were too powerful for her to consider fighting on her own, so she used her abilities to keep away from them.
It was not long before Seeker discovered that her Princess was no longer on the planet. Yet, the Starseed of the Fireball Princess was still alive, beckoning to her guardians. By this time, the three Sailor Starlights who would reach Earth had already left. Ever the dutiful explorer, Seeker resolved to first find a safe haven for the Princess, in case Galaxia's senshi followed her. Once she established a safe place to hide, she would then follow the signs to find Princess Kakyuu and bring her to safety.
Unfortunately, Seeker was all too correct in her suspicions. Even the Senshi of Travel could not keep ahead of her pursuers for long, and she was eventually brought to ground. Cornered, she refused to surrender to Chaos Galaxia's rule, and fought to her last breath - only then, when she had done all she could, would Galaxia collect the Seeker Starseed. Of course, those that found her were very disappointed that the Princess was not to be found with her explorer, and Seeker took what knowledge she had of Sailor Fireball's location to the grave with her.
The Starseed was, of course, bound with Chaos Galaxia's power into a new bearer. Sailor Shadow Seeker, as the new senshi became named, was never very useful, however - whereas Star Seeker wished to explore for curiosity's sake, Shadow Seeker was one to remain in the shadows, acting through blackmail. Without a doubt, this did not endear her much to her fellow Galactic senshi, as it was against them she most often found uncomfortable information. Yet, Shadow Seeker was skilled enough at stealth to keep from being killed, and she didn't give Chaos Galaxia a reason to kill her before Galaxia herself was purified by Princess Serenity.
Now, with the defeat of Chaos Galaxia, and with Chaos once more spread about in the hearts of those around the world, the Seeker Starseed has been granted to a new owner, finding a heart that, as its previous pure bearer, was filled with curiosity.
Celeste was born in Versailles, France, to Philippe and Charlotte deVoie, the third of the couple's four children, and the second of their three daughters. Monetarily speaking, Celeste wanted for nothing - her parents were both employed in lucrative occupations, and while they attempted to avoid spoiling their children, the young girl needed or wanted little that she couldn't get from her parents.
The complication, which happened with both of her older siblings as well, was that Celeste wanted to see the world, even from a young age. In her early school years, without yet having formal education, she learned to speak English and Japanese, to eventually include Italian, Spanish, and Russian with later instruction. She took it on herself to learn more about these cultures as well, fascinated with how different people lived their lives. She wanted to see all of this firsthand.
When she was 8, Celeste eagerly joined her school's student exchange program, and spent a semester in England. From there, she's been all about the world, seeing more of the world before her sixteenth birthday than most people get to see in an entire lifetime.
Both of her older siblings - as eager to see the world but not with as much energy - pursued their higher education in countries other than France. Celeste, while 15, decided that she wanted to finish her education in Japan: a place reputed for being very difficult to learn, but also a place with a rich culture of which she wanted to see much more. Though it took much convincing, her parents finally accepted.
Now, having recently arrived in Tokyo, she prepares for her first semester at Chuo High School. She lives with the Akamura family (Kotaro and Michiko, and their 10-year-old daughter Kumi), whom she'd met during her first visit to Japan. Little does Celeste realize that it is not so much her wanderlust, but something much greater that drew her here.
[edit] A Little More Specific
Quirks: Celeste's personality is at once simple and complex, like the original Starlights - once the obvious is understood, one then can see the less easily understood layers beneath.
At her core, Celeste is driven by intense curiosity. She wants to know, see, and learn as much as she can, moreso than is normal. At once, it is her greatest strength and her most deadly flaw. Curiosity of this sort can be healthy, as it has driven her to hone her senses and skills of observation. It can also be unhealthy, as it can easily push her into a situation that she is not prepared to deal with. It is the strength of her curiosity, however, that made her the proper host to the Seeker Starseed.
Curiosity has led her to cultivate her natural skill in dealing with cultures and, by proxy, languages. She enjoys learning how people in different parts of the world live, for the simple sake of gaining understanding.
In a very roundabout way, her curiosity also contributes to her athleticism. She knows that she is a good runner, perhaps one of the best in the world - but just how good is she? She wants to find her limits, and occasionally does. Of course, this prompts her to deal with the question, "Can I push this limit further if I try again?"
Inactivity is the antithesis of her curiosity - it represents time wasted which could have been spent either learning or doing. As such, she tries to keep herself doing something, small or large, at any time. Even wandering around is not "doing nothing," as long as it serves the purpose of seeing what there is to see. Sometimes, she overcompensates in this regard and rushes through a task faster than she should - she recognizes this as a problem when it happens, and has yet to figure out how to deal with it.
Celeste is very open with her feelings, and finds it easy to speak to strangers. Speaking is the first step to discovering a common bond, which can lead to easy friendships. Many of these friendships cannot survive the rigors of life, whether because Celeste has continued on her travels, or that the differences discovered are stronger than the similarities. This does not deter Celeste, however - she has been hurt by broken friendships in the past, but she would rather try again than to become isolated. The friendships that last long enough to begin developing a stronger sense of trust make the effort worthwhile. Those who have earned her trust find that they have a friend who makes few demands, yet would go to extreme measures to defend them.
At turns, Celeste can be driven by her strong sense of duty, or she can be a barely-controlled maverick. She truly likes doing what is right, rules be darned if needed. Common-sense restrictions are usually followed, but for all her strength at interaction, she can act as a loner when she feels the need. She can plan ahead, but she is more likely to take action if she feels it is warranted. This does not suggest well for her ability to act as a leader, despite her natural charisma, if she were put in the situation - how well she may do would depend on how much support she gets from those she is leading. Acting alone, however, puts her nearly at her best, and only when she is working with a group with similar goals does she work better.
Her moods can sometimes swing greatly with the smallest stimulus, depending on the complexities of what else is going on at the time. She's not unstable, but her emotions are quite mercurial, and can be hard to predict.
As Sailor Star Seeker, her personality doesn't change. By the time the need to assume her senshi persona has arisen, she is likely focused on a goal, which commands her full attention. Because of this, she is usually harder to distract without significant effort. She is still ever the diplomat and scout, trying to find about the unknown for the benefit of the Kinmoku, and hopeful to cultivate good relations with other benevolent senshi.

Reactions to Sudden Hugs:
Virtues and Vices:
[edit] Badassery
Power Sphere: Travel
Asswhoopery:
Natural Linguist:
Celeste has been learing foreign languages before she received any formal schooling. In addition to her native French, she speaks flawless British-style English, fluent Japanese, and conversational Spanish, Italian, and Russian. Further, she can easily read Latin, though it is more difficult for her to speak. She would have an easy time picking up others, with some study. It would take time to develop fluency, of course, but if she finds the reason to do so, she will pursue it with determination. Her skill in English and Japanese is honed to the point where she can think in either lanugage nearly as easily as she can think in French, and only in extremely stressful situations (such as dealing with the supernatural for the first time) will she slip and say something in the wrong tongue.
Cultural Flexibility: She has also visited the primary countries which speak the modern languages above (America, England, Spain, Italy, and post-cold-war Russia). She has an easy time picking up on customs of new places and adapting to them. She's willing to try new things, nearly anything that doesn't violate her morals or ethics, and sometimes even integrates some of them into her regular lifestyle. She also can tell what to do (or not to do) to get along well in these societies, and can quickly adapt others into her field of knowledge.
Running: She is also very physically active, taking interest in participating in various sports, though more capable of speed than strength. In raw running speed, even in her unpowered persona, she is extremely fast - perhaps capable of winning an Olympic medal one day. Her skill at sports not keyed to running is average, at best, save for special areas (she's a killer in baseball when she steals bases, for example).
Greatest Weakness:
Attacks:
Skill in language and culture is a typical trait of she who carries the Starseed of Sailor Star Seeker, but like Maker's and Mercury's intelligence, it is not granted by the Starseed itself. Seeker's Starseed grants powers of motion. By way of raw power, hers is perhaps the weakest of the Kinmoku Starseeds - Seeker can fight, surely, but her strength lies in getting from place to place quickly (she is, at least, weaker than the Three Lights, and may or may not be below the other original Kinmoku Starseed in strength).
Seeker Star Speed: Olympic-level speed? Bah, how slow. Seeker can, for a few minutes at a time, reach highway speeds when at a dead-run. The usefulness of this ability for travelling is obvious, though it is significantly less useful in situations requiring more maneuverability. She can move up to twice her normal, unpowered (and already significant) speed without losing her ability to maneuver as if she were simply running. As her speed only helps her full-body movement, this does not help her in making more attacks in a given period of time, but it is efficient in closing distance between herself and a foe, or for adding the power of speed to an attack. It is also quite useful for getting out of the way of attacks, at least when she does not plan to throw one in return. At highway speeds, or at her full combat speed when making fine maneuvers, she tires and recovers at the same rate as a runner who was running at top speed, with appropriate adjustments for running at slower speeds. This power requires no gestures or words to invoke - it is activated at will, as long as she is in her powered form.
Star Speeding Shockwave: A spinning, gold five-pointed star circles overhead, descending in a spiral pattern with glittering stardust trailing behind. As it nears ground level, it stops just above the open right palm of Sailor Star Seeker, held stretched over her head. The star continues spinning for a moment, then amid a sparkle of energy, it turns into her Sailor Star Yell, its gems glittering as it pulses with audible power. Only then does Seeker close her hand around the Star Yell, the whole while her attention fixed forward, her eyes narrowed slightly in concentration. A split-second after that subtle first motion, she takes a more definite action. "Star ..." she calls out clearly, lifting her right leg to tuck her foot nearly up to her thigh, as she begins a spin toward her left - with that word, the Star Yell begins glowing with a blue-white light. She comes fully around, and lands in an aggressive, shoulder-wide stance with the word, "... Speeding ..." At this point, her arms are crossed in front of her, and the energy around the Star Yell in her right hand arcs to her left, her palm cupped away from the device. After a breath's pause, she yells, "... Shockwave!!" as her arms uncross, snapping the arc between her hands in a fan-shape, but leaving the Star Yell floating exactly between her two hands, in the middle of the arc. A fan-shaped wave of glowing stellar energy rushes forward, spreading along the arc defined by her arms.
This is Seeker's only attack, delivering a fan-shaped wave of concussive stellar energy - focusing the inherent power of motion from the Seeker starseed into a violent display. It is not a powerful attack, as senshi attacks go, but its major advantage is its ability to spread. She can focus the attack on a single target, or broaden it to include multiple targets. The wider she spreads the attack, however, the more personal energy is required, unless she wishes to sacrifice damage for the area of effect. She can sustain the wave for a constant attack, and she can cause the entire wave to simply disappear instantly with as much focus as it takes to create it. This attack is easily the weakest among the Kinmoku, and not very strong compared to most other senshi, but it tends to take less of an effort, particularly if she is only targeting a single individual. It becomes weaker still if, for some reason, she cannot use her Sailor Star Yell, but she can still use the attack.
When combined with the attacks of other Kinmoku, the wave color-shifts to a light green, forming a kind of "carrier wave" for her teammates' attacks (refer to episode 199, when the Starlights teamed up against Galaxia, and their attacks shifted color so that all three were different).
Fuku: Visible beneath the lowermost reaches of wavy brown hair on her forehead is the front of a golden, ruby-studded tiara, with a gold five-pointed star centered. Gold star earrings are also set in each ear. She wears a trio of silver chains about her throat, and a similar chain binds a short ponytail behind.
She wears a white halter top, with hems and straps of gray barely covering her front and doing little to cover her sides or back. At each corner where straps meet is a tiny gold star. Set in the middle of the halter in front is her Starlight brooch.
On her shoulders and back is a white sailor-style collar, which in front comes to a star-capped point just below her collarbone and behind comes down to the tops of her shoulderblades. Also on her shoulders are what appear to be no more than dark gray puffs of cloth. Hung from these are bands of white fabric which, at rest, resemble sleeves - more often, they seem to be elegant trails of smoke behind the many motions that the senshi makes with her hands.
Her multi-layered skirts, resembling translucent petals of a flower blossom, flare out to reach down barely to mid-thigh, with a waistband that dips into a V at the front. Beneath the skirts, visible through the thin fabric, is a pair of very-short frilly shorts, light gray in color. Her footwear seems to resemble slippers of smoky gray, with a single white wing set along the outside of each ankle.
Henshin: From the darkness in henshin-space, a viewer can barely make out the features and wavy hair of Celeste deVoie, yet her verdant-green eyes are seen quite clearly despite the lack of light. She lifts her head her head, turning it quickly toward the viewer as the lights come up - a moment later, fading into view a split-second off-time of the brightening lights, a headset phases into being, already set on her ear and made easily visible by her flowing hair. The headset's earpiece is capped with a golden star, and bears a single white wing that fits neatly through her settling hair.
With the spotlight now shining fully on her, Celeste looks determined and focused, as she clearly calls out, "Seeker Star Power..." Her eyes close as she tips her head back, her hands lifting upward through her hair before they come to rest held slightly out from her sides. Three shining stars swoop down overhead, glowing streaks trailing behind. As they obscure her form, she adds, holding the first word for a moment, "... make ... UP!!!" With that last word, the golden light that obscures her shatters into tiny motes, showing that she glows with a purplish light, slowly turning in the midair in henshin-space, arms held to the sides and legs slightly bent. Clear of this glow, yet glowing with its own golden light, is her Starlight brooch centered on her chest. Outward from the shining star, a yellow glow expands outward like a slow explosion, leaving in its wake a tight halter-top, a white sailor collar, gray shoulder poofs with trailing white tassels, a short white blossom skirt, and winged slippers.
The trio of stars obscures her once more before returning to the sky. In their wake, her skin has returned to normal, with her feet again firmly on the ground. Now, a slight smile graces her lips, along with the same determination, the combination looking somewhat mischievous yet just as serious.
(If alone:) Free of the hold of her glowing henshin, she lifts both arms and her right foot, stepping backward into a wide stance with her left hand held outward and forward and her right hand in a fist at her hip. She calls out, "Piercing through the night sky, the shooting star that tracks down evil no matter where it hides ... Sailor Star Seeker!" She snaps her feet together, her right arm bent with her fist at shoulder level and her left arm slightly away from her body palm-down, she finishes, "Stage on!"
(If with other Starlights:) In time with her companions, standing tall beside them, she calls out, "Sailor Starlights, stage on!" (When in a group-henshin with the other Starlights, Seeker is the last to begin her transformation.)
[edit] Connections
Hanako
Despite being a year and a half older than hime-sama, Celeste will quickly come to respect Hanako like any good Kinmoku should. Hanako's calm stability and intimate one-on-one style makes her the stable platform that keeps the Kinmoku working, compared to Celeste's hyperactive must-do-things-now and must-get-to-know-everyone nature. Luckily, Hanako is also fun to be around, so Celeste won't likely be bored. Seeker's job is to look ahead, both in diplomatic situations and in scouting dangerous situations, so that Kakyuu's down-to-earth wisdom can be applied to make the necessary decisions. Elementals, if you really want to get Seeker's goat, don't kill the princess - hide her where Seeker can't find her.
Katsuko
Like oil and vinegar, Kat and Celeste work well together, but it takes a little effort to keep them appropriately mixed. They have some similar interests and temperaments, and are in the same year in school, but their approach to those interests are quite different (Kat's take on history as a series of conflicts, for instance, compared to Celeste's gotta-know-it-all mentality). In Kinmoku matters, Seeker definitely appreciates that her team's captain is fairly straight-laced and quite focused, unlike herself, though Seeker will occasionally chafe at Fighter's do-it-now command approach. Seeker tries to keep her captain informed, particularly as regards to combat-related scouting, and will eventually learn to keep most of her diplomatic suggestions to herself, or save them for the princess. On the plus side, it's likely never boring when Fighter is In Charge.
