Susuki Misa (薄望咲) is Binshou's mother. She was born in Kyoto, and studied the Urasenke School of Chadou before moving to Tokyo. She's not much taller than Binshou, with the same dark hair, and it's a rare thing to catch her out of her tea ceremony garb. She is, in fact, a total tea freak. She's very much into the Zen aspect of the tea ceremony, and at times it can seem as if she's not altogether on the planet, though as Binshou has learned, she'll come back to Earth when Binshou least expects it to resume her parenting gig. One minute she'll be contemplating a knot in the wooden floor, and then suddenly, "Oh, and Binshou, you're not to leave this house until you clean the tea room." And then it's right back to the floor.
Her name is a dorky tea pun. The kanji means "blossoming hope", but misa is another word for a water jug, which represents water (obviously enough) in chaji. Her husband's name is another word for a charcoal brazier often used in tea ceremonies, which represents the element of fire in chaji. All they need is earth, air, and heart, and they should theoretically be able to summon Captain Tea Ceremony.
